Changes made to the sustainable development report in 2017

A 2017 report in accordance with the new GRI standards

The EDF Luminus sustainable development report 2017 strives to comply with the most recent recommendations of the Global Reporting Initiative, the 36 GRI standards.

 

The GRI table of content has been significantly modified to take into account new classifications.

 

In addition to these relatively minor changes, an impact table has been put on-line in the section “Context, impacts and challenges”. Specifically, the GRI standards now require the identification, for each material topic, of the nature of the impacts as well as the categories of people affected by the different impacts. The goal of this document is to distinguish between impacts directly caused by EDF Luminus and those caused by EDF Luminus through a business relationship.

Changes for 2017 in terms of content

To take into account the changing context, stakeholder expectations and the achievements of EDF Luminus, the 2017 report includes an additional chapter and two new indicators:

  • A specific section on our commitments in terms of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations has been added.
  • A new indicator has been added in the chapter Stakeholders, in accordance with the corporate responsibility commitments of the EDF Group and the social responsibility policy of EDF Luminus. This indicator provides the number of public meetings organised on a compulsory or voluntary basis to inform the audience about ongoing projects.
  • A new indicator was added in the chapter “Energy efficiency of companies”. It indicates the expected annual production of the solar panels installed at customer sites. This indicator enables the measurement of the efforts of EDF Luminus to sell, install and even finance these panels as well as the emissions avoided due to the installations.

Apart from these additions, and the modifications relating to the new GRI standards, the 2017 report contents remained similar. The website reports on our actions and the evolution of our ethical, commercial, financial, environmental and social results, over three years – as have the previous published reports.

A 100% digital 2017 report, on a dedicated website

For 2017, we wanted to create a dedicated web site that could be consulted by everyone more easily, using a tablet or smartphone. For reasons of economy, we have used an existing platform, adapted to the content being integrated.

 

The current web format offers greater flexibility compared to a classic paper or pdf format. The web makes it possible to overcome constraints in terms of number or length of pages. This enables us to better explain certain key points relating to the context or company actions.

 

The structure of the report has not changed significantly, in terms of the main chapters and the topics covered. For the longest chapters, subpages could be created on specific issues (measuring the carbon footprint) or actions (the new “installation of home batteries” offer).

 

In some cases, we had to reintegrate points developed in the earlier reports, to make the report self-supporting (the 2015 materiality matrix in particular).

 

To simplify the site structure, we grouped into a single “Customer satisfaction” chapter the two chapters “Residential customers” and “Business customer”” from the 2016 report.
